TrimSpa’s Response

Posted by: Owen Lystrup | February 9, 2007 | 2 Comments |

When your top celebrity figure dies suddenly, it has to be time to prepare. Unfortunate as it is, TrimSpa had to be ready for questions and media coverage.

For fun, I went to the Web site to see if the company had posted anything. The good news is that it has. The bad news is all the pictures posted with the message don’t work, so the site looks like an intro to Web design high school project.

Here’s the message:

“Whippany, NJ, February 8, 2007 – Today, Anna Nicole Smith’s grief stricken and tumultuous personal life came to an end. Anna came to our Company as a customer, but she departs it as a friend. While life for Anna Nicole was not easy these past few months, she held dear her husband, Howard K. Stern, her daughter, Dannielynn Hope, her most cherished friends, beloved dogs, and finally, her work with TRIMSPA.

Anna knew both the joy of giving life, and the heartache of losing a child. We pray that she is granted the peace that eluded her more recent days on earth, and that she find comfort in the presence of her son, Daniel.

– Alex Goen, CEO and Founder, TRIMSPA”

Another good play was TrimSpa disabled the rest of the site for the time being, leaving only the message.

However, for my taste, I think the message focused a bit too much on the company, though there were some heartfelt messages about Anna Nicole’s family.

Overall a message on a Web site is not near enough. For more, Brandweek has an excellent article on TrimSpa’s pending dilemma.

Owen:

I don’t know what you mean by the pictures don’t work.

I think that they basically took down their site to devote it entirely to addressing the Anna Nicole situation.

I’m not sure that’s the case, but it’s the way I took it.

Kevin

Kevin,

They fixed them pretty quickly. Around 1 p.m. PST when I visited the site, all the pictures were broken and only the message showed.

I think disabling the entire site to devote it to Anna’s memory is a good idea. But it’s not going to be enough.
